I just received this from Wee Hands and had to pass it on to our viewers that are signing with their little ones!   I LOVE this!   I learned a lot of the signs that I used with Lucas from his therapists but this is so amazing for those who may not have that yet or for some signs you just may not know yet!!

I have been SO busy with our event and other things to keep the blog going.  There is a lot going on but I am going to try and not let that keep me from letting you know along the way how the one who started this all, is doing!

I am over the moon with his progress!  He has been talking up a storm over the last few weeks and is SO proud of every new word that he can say!  He'll just announce what something is and look into my eyes to wait for me to jump, and scream, and wohoo for him!  LOL

I am trying to put together a video of him so that I can show you the difference in him in only a few short months!  I can't tell you as a Mother how much it means to be able to finally "GET" what he is saying to me!  He would try so hard to talk.  His mouth would move but his brain just couldn't get the word to come out.  I could see the frustration in his face to even say "Drink". 

He'll sign the word "More", and can say "Juice".  When I jump right up to get it for him.  The smile that is on his face is priceless!  You can just see the relief in him knowing that his Mommy understands him, FINALLY!

His outbursts are calming down, of course I'm sure, because his frustration level is starting to go away.

I finally feel like we are getting somewhere with him and it is WONDERFUL!  YAY

I had to share our wonderful news with you before I did one more thing today!

Ok, I'm going about this whole Monday thing completely different on this fine first day of summer! It's simply Marvelous!



I can't believe it is officially the very first day of Summer! It was a LONG winter here in NJ and I am simply delighted to finally be enjoying the warm weather. It seems just like yesterday my little guy was playing in the snow for the very first time.




Our pool officially opened this weekend full time so I am really excited to have Lucas get in everyday to get in some really good therapy! We had to increase the Melatonin to 1.5 mg last night. It seems to be working today. He went to bed at 1:30 and is still sleeping. I'll be getting in touch with the ENT today to schedule an appointment to have Lucas's tube(s) put back in so I'll keep you posted on that.

Well, I made it through getting Lucas to the opthomologist.  He has an astigmatism and is far sited but they aren't going to give him glasses yet.  They said he will probably need them in a few years without a doubt.  I never knew that they were able to tell if a child like Lucas even needed glasses without him communicating.   He was out of control in there though! It took three grown adults to hold him down for the doctor to look at him.  They had to dilate his eyes and he was not a happy boy! LOL


I am so darn proud of him.  He has been really jumping in leaps and bounds.  He wants to talk so badly.  You can see it in his face.  His mouth moves but the words just don't come out.  We'll in the last few days he has been saying things that he's never said before.  We've been working on "for me"  for several months now and he pounded on his chest and said "ME", to tell me he wanted a pretzel!  (WIPES TEARS)  Any little step makes my heart skip a beat with Lucas.  If I could give him my voice and never talk again, I would!  He's been signing the word "more" too.  I guess he was ready!  Again, this is another thing we've been working on forever and it just so happens that it all came out over the last few days.

I'm thinking about posting a poll to find out how many or if any of our other parents of children with SPD have fibromyalgia and if there are any correlations between the two.  If anyone out there has heard or studied anything about this I would love to hear about it.
