OK, onto all of our newest subscribers!  Welcome aboard and thanks for joining the journey with Lucas.

Oh boy, my nerves are getting jumbled.  My 10 year old is winding down to the last few days of school.  He has ADHD and between both boys it can be a roller coaster of a ride when they are both together.

I do find that some of Lucas's therapies work with him as well.  Our newest therapy is, Ice!  How such a simple thing can do such wonders!  It's so funny to hear the crunch, crunch, crunch coming from both of them but the calmness and quiet that emanates from them is so peaceful.  "As God as my witness, I shall never be without ice again!"   No really, if you have a little one, or a big one for that matter,  and need to calm them down, smash it up into little bite size pieces and try it!  I was surprised to see how much input they got from it and to see how well it really works.  Lucas has been actually saying the word "ICE".  For him that is huge!  

Getting him to say anything is a struggle but to make out what he is saying brings tears to my eyes.  I worried for so long that he would never speak at all.  He is so delayed but hopefully with the pool opening he moves forward a bit and starts talking.  I have to keep reminding myself that before 8 months ago the poor kid couldn't even move his tongue up to eat.  I was so happy when I saw him do this yesterday I had to take a picture.  I just amazes me that 8 months ago this kid had to eat baby food and look at him now!

I was lucky enough to snap this just before he had a meltdown that the waffle was on his hands.  It amazes me every time I see how upset he gets to have food touch his hands.  I thought he was going to vomit just from the touch of it at first.  He did get comfortable with it but only for a few seconds.

This is his look to tell me, "I'm DONE!, I did it, leave me alone!" LOL  I am so proud of him for going that far though.  OMG. If you could see how far this kid has come.  I'm still working on getting his therapist to give their view of Lucas so that you can see the difference. 

It's almost like at 18 months he had to start from scratch all over again.  Hearing and being able to talk for the first time.  When I look at it like that I see just how far my little buggy has come.

To the Mom's who are just finding out that their child has this and you are scared.  It does get better. I'm proof and I'm telling my story to show you that it does!
