I've just posted a description of SPD under our "What is SPD?" tab and wanted to share it with everyone.  Please click on this link http://lucasjourneyspd.blogspot.com/p/what-is-spd.html to check it out.    I thought it was such a good description I added it to our site.  Very detailed and informative.

The Journey continues..........................

Our pool opened last weekend and Lucas is like a new man since he's been able to go swimming!  I'm blessed that he loves the water because I know a lot of our sensory children don't.  I get it and realize how lucky we are.

He was taking commands today which is a HUGE issue for us.  We were playing together with a new Lego set and I told him to get the caterpillar part that was on the floor in the next room.   I said it loud, clear,  and slow,  "Lucas, look (pointing to the lego piece), go get your caterpillar and bring it to Mommy!"  He looked right at it, walked over to it, picked it up, and brought it to me!  Most parents who don't have sensory kids can never understand just how huge this is!  That moment told me "HE GETS IT!"   For that moment, he was in a place, to really understand what I was saying, process what I asked him to do, and was able to perform the task at hand from beginning to end.

Lucas also told us "doughnut mouth" today, as he pointed to his mouth! OMG!  He was saying that he wanted a doughnut in his mouth!  We all stopped what we were doing and stood with our mouths opened in shock!

Thank you so much for the praise of our site and link to our colored pasta at Discount School Supply! It's wonderful to hear about our products in use out in the "real world," and thanks for sharing your find with other parents and educators.

Laurel, thank you, for having so many great items for our sensory and special needs children. I have a running list of things I can't wait to try from your store! It is my pleasure to share a good store that meets so many needs for therapy that we use with our children.
