APOLOGY FOR BEING MIA AND BEHIND! LONG UNHAPPY STORY!

I want to apologize to everyone for being MIA and behind on announcing a few winners for the Sensational Celebration Event.  It's coming, I promise!

We spent the last few weeks in complete and utter hell with Lucas!

First it started with Lucas having a simple run of the mill sinus infection!  He went on Anti-biotics and he seemed to get better so we thought nothing of it.

Lucas ran up to me with a HUGE smile about a week later and wanted LOVE hugs!  I never pass up love hugs from Lucas so I scooped him up and kissed his cheek and OMG!

I had ooze pour down my face from his ear!  It looked like it could be blood but it was orange?  His hair, shirt, and pants,  were soaked!   I have never,  in my life,  saw so much fluid GUSH out of someone's ear like it did with him.  We weren't sure what happened!   My husband and I were asking each other if he fell and hit his head and neither of us saw him fall that day!  We rushed him to the pediatricians and they immediately started him on anti-biotics for an ear infection.  They thought that his tube may have been clogged up from the sinus infection that he had the week prior.  The infection just sat in his ear drum, trapped for a week.   They put him on a different anti-biotic and told me to take him to see his ENT because they couldn't see if his ear drum had burst!  Are you freaking kidding me?!

Last Wednesday, I took him to the ENT and they did something that I begged GOD never to let my kids go through ever again!  He had to flush his ear!  The cries that came from this boy could only match that of an animal being hit by a car!  I am dead serious!  I have never heard a pain cry like I did from him that day! I had to hold him down while they did this!  I felt like I was hit by a bus that night!  He is only two but is stronger than my ten year old!

Monday came and Lucas was still running a 101-103 fever!  All the while he had been telling us that he had a boo boo in his leg!  We thought his little brain was telling him that his boo boo was in the wrong place!  Now he's limping, his knee cap is swollen and won't kneel on his legs anymore!  I called the Pediatrician back and they told me to bring him right back in!  His ear infection hadn't cleared at all and they think he needs to get his hip down to his foot X-rayed!  AGAIN!  ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!!!!!

We were told to go right back to the ENT and take Lucas to get his X-ray ASAP!  As soon as the ENT looked at his ear he got the tools out to, YES, flush his ear again!  The ear clogged right up so the drops weren't getting into the eardrum where they needed to be!

He was so upset after the ENT I told my husband I would take him that morning to get the X-ray.   He didn't sleep all night so I ran him over as soon as my 10 year old got on the bus for school.  for three days now the only words that Lucas has been crying is "HUP, HUP, HUP!"  (Help, Help, Help)  Every step, every move, every breath was Hup, Hup, Hup with those sad little, sick eyes! : (

Can I tell you how heartbreaking it is to have your baby tell you to help him and not know what to do to make things right for him?!  I was literally tortored for days not knowing what he needed me to fix for him!  The pediatrician called back at 5:00 that night and wanted me to take Lucas to the ER right away!  She needed tests done, yesterday!  I'm in a panic now but relieved because I think that may be they can help me, help Lucas!

They took us right back.  We were in the hospital all of 10 minutes and Lucas was having an IV put into his arm and ultrasounds being set up.  I almost felt like we were in a dream.  After all of the tests they found that Lucas had Toxic Synovitis!  The virus that was in Lucas's ear traveled through him and settled into his little hips and joints which is why he had been telling me he had boo-boo's in his legs! My husband asked the doctor if it was like having the flu and she told him that you would wish you only had the flu with how excruciating the pain is with this!  : (

There isn't anything that you can do for this, it just takes time to work its way out of the joints.  It can take weeks or months depending on the person from what I gather.  He has only wanted Mommy and Mommy has only wanted him!  I felt so bad that he was in so much pain and couldn't tell us anymore than boo-boo and hup!

He was running a fever for over almost two weeks and today we noticed that he was covered head to toe with a rash!  Charlie had it so I knew immediately what it was, Roseola!  We spent the night in Aveeno baths!

I'm hoping that this is the start of the end of this horrible month for Lucas!  I'll keep you posted and thank you all so much again for being understanding with being behind!

I feel so bad for you all. No apology necessary, but thanks for the update, especially since things must be really crazy at your house!
I will pray for you all.

Thank you all so much for your kind words!

I think with everything going on it's just been overwhelming! I am just starting to get caught up on reviews, posts, mailing, and everything else.

Lucas gets his issues from somewhere (MOM) and I am a perfectionist so when things aren't going exactly as planned my heart starts palpitating and I'm not calm until everything is as it should be! LOL

The fact that I'm able to be on the computer at all shows that he is starting to feel better. They say it could take a couple of weeks for the virus in his joints to go away so they are keeping an eye on the visible inflammation in his hips and legs. He looked like he had baseballs in the back of his knee caps!
